what to expect when booking a balayage

TIME

The balayage process takes anywhere from 3 - 6 hours. Depending on the desired look you are going for, how much hair you have and the length of your hair. Here’s a break down of how the balayage process works:

  • Consulting and discussing your desired look ( 15 min )

  • Preparing to mix the lightener ( 15 min )

  • Applying lightener for the foiling process ( 45 - 1.5 hrs )

  • Letting the lightener process ( 45 - 1 hr )

  • Rinsing off the ligthtener ( 15 min )

  • Formulating and Applying Toner ( 30 min )

  • Letting the toner process ( 30 min )

  • Shampoo, Cut & Style ( 1 hr )

INVESTMENT

Why is this service so expensive? Let me explain.

  • It is a detailed application that requires years of education and experience.

  • It is a special technique used for women who want the most natural grow out to not have to be in the salon every 6 weeks for a touch up.

  • It requires more product and time than most of your average services.

Hair Care

After getting a balayage it’s important to invest in quality products to help maintain the health of your hair and color. I always recommend my clients to use a shampoo that focuses on repair or strengthening. When going lighter with your color, it naturally is stripping to your hair causing your hair to be more weak. I also recommend to use a leave in conditioning treatment. This will continue to help protect your hair from any hot tools and help nourish your hair back to it’s health.

UPKEEP

This varies depending on your personal desired goals. However, most of my clients go from 3 - 6 months before feeling like they need to touch up their balayage. With toner appointments in between every 8 weeks to avoid feeling brassy or washed out. As color and toners fade within 6 - 8 weeks. So it’s best to schedule a toner appointment every 8 weeks. This seems to be the sweet spot that most clients come in still loving the color of their hair and not having to deal with brassy tones!

The balayage look is stunning as ever and has been over the past few years. If you have any more questions leave a comment below!
